Preparation of chitosan/laterite/iron oxide-based biocomposite and its application as a potential adsorbent for the removal of methylene blue from aqueous solution

• A novel biobased material as a potential adsorbent was proposed. Locally sourced used in the composite fabrication. Adsorbents can be removed facile method (magnetically) after adsorption. Biobased enables sustainable and environmentally friendly approach for removing contaminants. Remediation of dye contamination is an important concern countries such Bangladesh whose economy depend heavily on textile dyeing industries. biocomposite prepared using chitosan, laterite , iron-oxide particles via crosslinking with non-toxic ionic crosslinker (sodium tripolyphosphate). The resulting biodegradable uses locally available materials (prawn shells, laterite). An extensive characterization focus this study. To test its adsorption capacity, removal methylene blue from aqueous solutions tested. Changes adsorptive capacity due to changes dosage amount, initial concentration, pH were investigated. With increase pH, rapid has been observed, maximum found 16 mg/g Langmuir Isotherm. follow pseudo-second-order-reaction kinetics. As renewable separation property, may applied prospective adsorbent.
